Penny

Penny is a beautiful two-year-old red or "liver" colored Boston Terrier. She is a playful and energetic puppy at heart. Penny was rescued from a shelter in the Temple area, along with two other Bostons. They were all underweight and shy, but very sweet-natured dogs!

Penny is a now a healthy young girl! She is thriving in our home as our foster dog. She has gained three pounds and is looking great! She is heartworm negative and up-to-date on all vaccinations. She will be spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on heartworm prevention at the time of adoption. She will be ready for adoption by the end of July 2013. Adoptin application can be found at www.texasbostons.com.

Penny is house-broken and crate-trained, and LOVES people, especially kids. She will be the perfect princess, and would love to snuggle in your lap or beside you on the couch! She is still learning about the world outside her home, and would benefit from a training class to help her social skills and manners. She does know some basic obedience commands, such as sit, off (furniture), and down (no jumping up).

Penny is sure to bring a smile to your face with her silly personality, and would love to be your new best friend! Penny is available for adoption through www.texasbostons.com. There is an adoption application fee ($25) and the adoption fee is $300. This fee covers her surgeries, including the surgery to repair her "cherry eye." Dogs available for adoption

Bea (bay-uh)

We are fostering the most amazing dog right now. Bea was saved from Spindletop "refuge"

(http://www.houstonpress.com/2012-08-16/news/spindletop-dog-refuge/)  by an Austin based rescue group, Love-a-Bull (www.love-a-bull.org).  She was so neglected during her time at Spindletop - she came into rescue with horrible skin and ear infections, an umbilical hernia, rotten teeth, HW positive and was obviously used at some point for breeding. Left in a crate so long that she has thick, ugly calluses on her legs and has a hard time getting up and down stairs. Yet, despite all of this, she still looks at us with love in her eyes, tail wagging - just waiting for the slightest hint of approval. She is such a special dog - like so many other who have seen the worst side of humans, she forgives and loves us anyway. It's nothing but the good life now, baby girl! ♥

Update: 12/2012 - WE ADOPTED BEA! She is now called Ellie B and is treated like the queen she is.

Let us help your dog get adopted!

We have years of experience with fostering both dogs and cats. We have learned a few important things along the way!

1. Photos and video can make the difference for your foster dog!

We offer photography and videography to help your dog stand out in the crowd! Give us a call to set up an appointment! Photography is free, and a 2 minute video (like the one on this page) can be made if we can collect enough photos.

2. Evaluate your foster!

Have you been able to test your dog with other dogs? Children? Strangers? These are all important aspects of responsible adoption! We can help you with these evaluations so that you will know what type of home your foster dog will thrive in.

3. Biography/Networking

A good write-up can really get people interested in your foster dog. Networking your foster is also crucial - we will help you learn how to use social media and free advertising to your advantage!

4. Basic training

Good leash manners, crate-training, house etiquette - these are all MUST HAVES for foster dogs these days. Help your dog learn how to be a part of any household with basic training commands such as sit, down, stay and heel. If you need help with these things, we offer walk and train services (there is a charge for these services). We can als give you TONS of information to help with common obedience questions faced by most dog owners!

We are here to help!

For more information on how we can help, email us at: rescue_rocks@hotmail.com.
